We Are Earth In the beginning, there was no color. There was cold. A blue-green mud, at the bottom of the world, nameless, formless. A raw material, dense, silent. A mineral sleep. I live in Switzerland. Here, winter doesn't kill the lakes, it puts them to sleep. We Are Earth was born on this frozen shore. Here, we know what it means to wait for color. For months, everything retreats into shades of gray and cold blue. Then, in the space of a few days, everything surges forth, everything bursts forth. The works speak of this precise moment: the moment of the tipping point, of metamorphosis. We Are Earth is not simply a series. It is a passage. A ritual. The first step out of winter. This work tells not only what we are, but where we come from—and what we leave behind. We are not only earth. We are a land inhabited by memory, a substance that remembers the moment it became color. Each sculpture is an awakening. Emerging from the same primordial mud, common to all, it rises in form—and, in this movement, color appears. It is an emergence: the first cry, the first breath, the return of blood to a body of clay. The bases, dark and organic, evoke this buried origin: the bottom of lakes, the silent matrix from which everything emerges. The colored forms, for their part, are apparitions. They still bear within them the trace of the cold shadow from which they came.
